What's on the HSPT?

Designed for rising 8th graders, the HSPT exam is taken in order to test into private Catholic high schools. Scores are presented as percentiles.

How to schedule your HSPT exam test date:

The HSPT is unlike college entrance exams, such as the SAT and ACT, in that STS does not coordinate national testing days. All details of test administration are handled by individual schools or dioceses and they determine which day/s they will offer the HSPT. Contact the school directly to find out their testing date.

What’s on the HSPT?

The exam includes five sections. Scores are based on the amount of questions answered correctly and there is no penalty for wrong answers, therefore, students should leave no question unanswered.

Verbal Synonyms, antonyms, analogies, logic, and verbal classifications	16 minutes	60 questions
Quantitative Reasoning Series, geometric and non-geometric comparisons, and number manipulations	30 minutes	52 questions
Reading Ability to understand central meanings and details of reading passages	25 minutes	62 questions
