If your student is currently experiencing a light workload, it’s a great time to get ahead in math or to check other graduation requirements off the list. Take an online class (for credit!) and lean on Sage for support.

An online class isn’t ideal for every student, but it’s an excellent option for many! For example, taking Algebra online right now and into the summer with support from Sage tutors will prepare your student to test straight into Geometry in the fall. If your student is a rising Senior and still needs math credit for graduation, we can start now and free up their school schedule next year. Or if your student is simply looking to advance farther in math, we can help get them there sooner, allowing them to jump ahead when the school year starts.

We’ve mentioned math, but it’s not the only subject your student can knock out online. Taking an English or History course, for example, can free up your student’s schedule during the school year to include more electives such as Art or Music. And if continuing to learn to paint from a seasoned artist, or to jam with friends in the music ensemble will add some zest to the school year, it might be worth freeing up the time to do it.

The benefits of an online class are twofold. Not only do students get to move through the class at their own pace, breezing through easy concepts and spending more time on difficult ones, but with the help of a Sage tutor they’ll also receive individualized support keeping them on track for completion and learning how they learn best.

We have seen many students find success with APEX Virtual Learning and BYU Independent Learning. These two options are both accredited institutions that will issue an official transcript, a requirement in the TUHSD. Once your student is enrolled, we can set them up with a weekly tutor to ensure they’re moving through the course confidently, and on time. Rachel Byron currently serves as the Director of Sage Educators. She graduated magna cum laude from Miami University, where she earned her B.S. in Exercise Science. Rachel’s dedication to education earned her President’s List and Dean’s List distinctions at Miami and enabled her to participate in the Golden Key National Honor Society, a selective organization for high-achieving college students. Like her twin sister, fellow Sage tutor Jessica, Rachel played four years of NCAA Division I soccer on the Miami University Women’s Soccer Team. During her tenure at Miami, Rachel learned to successfully balance the demands of academics and college athletics as demonstrated by her selection to the 2010 and 2009 Academic All Mid-American Conference Team and recipient of the Mid-American Conference Commissioner’s Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence. Rachel was born in Elkhart, IN, and has been very fortunate to travel to some amazing places. Her experiences have led her to develop a strong passion for empowering youth. She is excited about the opportunity to help kids realize their potential and is especially thrilled to be a member of the Sage team. While Rachel is not pursuing her passion for youth development, she can be found running, reading, and taking advantage of the beautiful Bay Area that she is happy to call home.
