Nature Navigators

Summer Camp

Interested in having some old-fashioned camp fun this summer?

Join our Nature Navigators Day Camp, designed for grades K-5, and experience the benefits and joys of learning and playing outdoors! In this experiential camp, students will work on their Naturalist Skills, brush up on California Geography and Natural History, and get creative with Nature art, all while hiking and getting dirty in the beautiful parks and open spaces we’re lucky to have in our backyard. From scientific explorations like water quality testing and bird language, to games such as Birdie on a Perch and Zip Zap Zop, we cover it all.

In this camp, students will become nature scientists while moving through four distinct themes.

In Naturalist Skills, students will hone their naturalists skills by engaging with their senses to explore their natural surroundings, create action plans to decrease their carbon footprint and go green, and explore the ways in which water connects us all.

In California Geography and Natural History, they’ll focus on California’s Natural History through the study and practice of mapping, animal tracking, and the life and influence of famous conservationist, John Muir.

In Nature Art and Language Arts, students will focus on Art and Language Arts, exploring the work of Mt Tam enthusiasts Gary Snyder and Tom Killion, practicing their own Andy Goldsworthy style outdoor art, and learning that bird language contains lessons for us all.

In Discover Outdoors, they’ll bring science and math to life as we explore symmetry and patterns in nature, count tree rings and measure circumferences to identify the ages of various tree species, and learn about the physics of sound to help classify sounds in nature.

With an emphasis on experiential learning, campers will learn how to make and record observations, collect and interpret scientific data, and use art as a means of interpreting nature. If you are looking to take outdoor exploration, imagination, & fun to the next level, this is the summer camp for you!
