Celebrate Thanksgiving by Helping Students in Need

Dear Sage Community,

It’s the season of giving! Since 2007, it has been our mission at Sage Educators to support all students in learning, regardless of age, race, religion, gender or socioeconomic status. In addition to donating over $300,000 to various school foundations and community groups, we have donated over $120,000 in free and/or discounted tutoring services to over 50 Marin County youth in need. We have seen thousands of students reach their academic goals, and we couldn’t be happier. Unfortunately, the demand for support has grown beyond what is sustainable for Sage Educators, but we have some exciting news!

We’ve worked hard to get here, and we are proud to announce our new nonprofit, the Sage Educators Foundation. At SEF, we believe in educational equity. It is our mission to ensure that every Marin County student has access to the support they need to thrive… because when our students thrive, our entire community thrives.

Did you know that minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged students in California are consistently tracked into less rigorous courses than their affluent counterparts, and thus have lower graduation rates and lower test scores? It’s true in Marin, too. In fact, according to a recent study by the Education Trust – West, “Marin County has the second-highest [achievement] gap [in the state], with a 46 point difference in the percentage of Latino and white students who met or exceeded both the state math and English language arts standards in 2017.” How will these students ever get ahead if they are leaving high school ill-prepared for the workforce, and unable to go to college?

We are taking action to close this gap, and we need your support. Please consider showing your support on this upcoming #GivingTuesday, and in the months ahead, by making a charitable contribution that supports the marginalized youth in our community. Of course, any donation is tax-deductible. A donation of $3,000 could provide year-long tutoring and mentorship for one youth, which could help get them into college and provide an opportunity to elevate their family for generations to come. No amount is too small, and we so appreciate your consideration. You can donate now to the Sage Educators Foundation and bring us one step closer to educational equity.

Thank you for your support!

With Gratitude,

William, Jaime, and the Sage Educators team
